Viewed from the top of the stairs, the side garden faces west and gets the sun from midday to sunset. Entrance to the garden is via the gap in the hedge seen centre. The dog shed is currently being used to store kindling for the fire. At the end of the garden is a low wall, constructed of local lava rock, as are most of the walls around the town, there is no shortage of this local resource. Beyond is a 12ft drop to the road below.
